My Introduction to Lawn Care Services Bartering

Why would I write about bartering to build your business?  Because I saw how it was working for some lawn care businesses I was working with. 

I was spending the day with a lawn care business owner in the South, and he wanted to eat lunch at a local hole-in-the-wall BBQ place.  We all know those are the best so we went in.  The place had about 12 tables in total.  When I told the owner I was working with that I would pay for lunch, he told me it was already taken care of.  

He said he kept the small lot the building was fertilized and weed free.  He also keep the restaurant owners home lawn in shape.  In exchange he could eat there free and the guy wouldn’t mind him bringing in a guest. When I told him that was a pretty great deal, he listed off several other similar deals.  His kids had braces because of his services.  His accountant was a barter deal. His son was getting private baseball pitching lessons.

The shirts his employees were wearing were part of some kind of exchange. I don’t remember all the deals he had going on, but I was impressed. I asked several owners I was working with at the time if they were swapping services with other businesses or professionals and several were.
