Fertilization and Weed Control Services

After you set up your business you are ready to sell and perform services.  If you are mowing, it is time to add fertilization and weed control services. This course will walk you through Soil Nutrients, Fertilizer basics, Turf ID review, Weeds 101, Weed Identification, Equipment, Products, Schedules and environmental affects.  Soil and pH affect on nutrients and deficiency identification. There are product decision videos such as granular vs liquid and smart buying tactics.

Understanding how weed control works is key to control.

Soil Service Mastery Course

Before you begin treating a lawn with fertilizer or additives, you should test the soil.  The minimum test that should be done is a pH test with a probe. This course will cover collecting soil samples, using soil probes, sending samples to professionals, adjusting pH and nutrients.  Lessons will also cover soil conditioners and products to hold more water in the soil. Sales, marketing, and pricing is covered. 

Learn the correct way to start taking care of your customers from day one. Show that you are different from big ocmpanies and doing things the right way.

Lawn Disease Control Services

Regardless of where you live, you will see lawn disease.  This course will train you on what causes lawn disease and what you can do about it.  Enviroment has the biggest affect on disease, so you will learn to spot problem environmental issues and fix them. We will go throu diseases common on cool season and on warm season grasses. A product lesson will cover basic disease products for lawns.  We will cover whether or not to charge for disease control services.

Lawn Insect Control Services

Lawn insects can ruin a lawn. This course will help you identify common lawn insects and control them.  Learn environment factors affecting insect issues. The best way to control many insects is to get ahead of them by applying the right insecticide at the right time.  We will cover the pros and cons of liquid and granular products and combining insecticides with fertilizers. You will learn to market and sell these high profit services and set customers up for multiple services each year.

Lawn Aeration, Dethatching, Power Raking, and Verticutting

Learn to sell and perform aerations, dethatching, power raking, and verticutting. We will cover the different service types and equipment.  We will also cover liquid versions of these services and combining these services with seeding and and other services. You are leaving easy money on the table if you aren't doing theise services.

Lawn Turfgrass Identification

This shortcourse covers Cool Season Northern grasses, Warm Season Southern grasses, and Transitional zone combinations. There is a review lesson to summarize the main points of turfgrass identification. All other services depend on the right turfgrass identification. Use this course to teach new employees the common grasses in your area. 



Non-Turfgrass Areas Weed Control

Non-Turfgrass Weed control can be tricky since there may be plants nearby that could be injured.  We divide up non-turf areas into 3 areas.  First is flower bed weed control.  Second is solid surfaces like concrete sidewalks and driveways.  Third is solid surface areas that can be treated with permanent weed control products.


Ornamental Plant Services

COMING SUMMER 2024  

This course will cover all training needed to perform fertilization, insect control, and disease control for trres, shrubs, and other landscape plants.


Includes products, services, schedules, equipment, and more. Can be used to train employees to perform the services.
